Aly Salayandia lives in Utah with her husband and two daughters. Aly got pregnant with her first daughter in September 2022 after experiencing an ectopic pregnancy earlier that summer. After a textbook pregnancy her baby flipped breech leading to her scheduling a c-section for 39 weeks and 3 days but her daughter had other plans, while her first birth still ended up in a c section it was anything but planned and that experience paved the way for the decision to choose a home birth with her second daughter. In September 2025 Aly gave birth to her second daughter and got her home birth VBAC.

Today’s episode is in partnership with Inito. Trusted by over 100,000 users, Inito is the only at-home fertility monitor that tracks four key hormones (Estrogen, LH , FSH, and PdG), providing a six-day fertile window AND confirming ovulation. Unlike basic LH strips, Inito gives you numerical hormone values unique to your body, so you actually understand what’s happening instead of guessing. We’ve all been there squinting at lines on ovulation strips trying to decide if they are actually getting darker or not. It is especially helpful for people with irregular or unpredictable cycles or if, like me, you ovulate later in your cycle than the “average” person. Inito’s newest device – the Insight Reader- is a standalone, wireless device – so you can start a test, go about your day, and receive results automatically in the Inito app (avaialble for iOS and Android). No staying near the device. Just Dip. Test. and Go.
For Birth Hour listeners, the Insight Reader is available right now for just $89 with the code BIRTHHOUR at inito.com.
